Season of Lent is the season when Catholic people commemorate the Christ’s passion. It starts on Ash Wednesday, forty days before Easter Sunday. The traditional purpose of Lent is to prepare and renew the believers through prayer, penance, repentance of sins, almsgiving and atonement.
Holy Week is the last week of the observance of the said season. It starts from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday. This is the most awaiting week, if not all, for some people. Most of the Catholics go to church to celebrate the solemnity of the annual commemoration marking the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. There are also people especially those non-Catholic who do not observe the said occasion who look forward to a long-weekend vacation.
Traditionally, on Maundy Thursday, people visit seven churches to pray in front of each church’s Blessed Sacrament. Then do the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. And Easter Vigil on Black Saturday night.
Sad to say that this year, I was only able to do the Stations of the Cross:(. Anyhow, even if I wasn’t able to complete the activities or celebrate the traditional ceremony, God knows I feel deep remorse for all my sins.
We spent our Good Friday at Qpark which is located in Compostela, Cebu. Qpark is frequently visited during Lenten season especially during Good Friday. The place is huge and quiet and is a perfect venue to meditate, pray, and restore your faith and spirit. Here are some of the photos taken during our visit:
